Josh Kopin Pinched Kobachi – Wood and Soda Fired

This small kobachi bowl by Josh Kopin was wheel-thrown from tan stoneware and then gently altered by hand. Unglazed and fired in a wood and soda kiln, the surface captures the direct imprint of flame and ash—its texture raw, matte, and quietly complex. The subtly pinched rim adds gesture and softness to the otherwise compact form. At 1.5 inches tall and holding about 2 oz, it’s ideal for salt, pickles, or a moment of sculptural stillness.

Josh Kopin による小さな小鉢。黄味がかったストーンウェアをろくろで成形し、その後手でやさしく変形させたものです。釉薬はかけず、薪とソーダの窯で焼成され、炎と灰の直接的な影響を受けた生地のままの表情が魅力です。わずかに摘まれた縁が、かたちにやわらかさと動きを添えています。高さ約4cm、容量約60ml。塩や漬物、小さな静けさのための器として。
