Ayumi Nojiri Handbuilt Ivory Stoneware Vase

This handbuilt stoneware vase by Ayumi Nojiri has a generously rounded body, a narrow upright neck, and a small foot that gives its nearly spherical form a sense of lightness. Electric-fired, its soft ivory glaze reveals a dense network of delicate, featherlike markings in subtly varying shades of cream and pale beige.

The narrow opening gathers a few stems or branches into a natural arrangement, while the vase's distinctive form and finely patterned surface invite attention even when it stands empty.

Ayumi Nojiriが手成形した炻器の花器。ふっくらと丸みのある胴体に、小さく立ち上がった口元と控えめな高台を組み合わせ、ほぼ球形の姿に軽やかさが感じられます。電気窯で焼成された柔らかなアイボリー色の釉薬には、クリーム色や淡いベージュの繊細な羽毛のような模様が幾重にも広がっています。

小さな口元は、数本の草花や枝ものを自然にまとめてくれます。花を生けていないときにも、独特のフォルムと表情豊かな釉調を楽しめる一品です。
