Guy Matsuda Medium Round Wood-Fired Coffee Mug

Wheel-thrown by Guy Matsuda, these medium, wood-fired stoneware coffee mugs have softly rounded bodies, gently defined rims, and comfortable curved handles. Available in four distinctive finishes: shino, with creamy ivory tones and subtle variations in surface; green teadust tenmoku, with deep olive-green and smoky brown tones; dolomite-glazed interior with an unglazed exterior that reveals warm reddish-brown clay and fine markings from the firing; and ash glaze, with flowing greenish-brown bands that follow the horizontal lines of the form. Wood firing gives each mug its own variations in color and texture. A comfortable size for everyday coffee, tea, or other favorite drinks.

ガイ・マツダがろくろで成形し、薪窯で焼成した中くらいの炻器製コーヒーマグ。やわらかく丸みを帯びた胴、ほどよく形づくられた口縁、手になじむ曲線的なハンドルが特徴です。仕上げは4種類。乳白色を基調に表面の微妙な変化が楽しめる志野釉。深いオリーブグリーンと落ち着いた茶色が重なり合う緑色のティーダスト天目釉。内側にドロマイト釉を施し、外側には薪窯での焼成によって生まれた赤みのある土の色と細かな模様が現れる無釉仕上げ。そして、器の横のラインに沿って緑がかった茶色の釉薬が流れる灰釉です。薪窯での焼成によって色合いや質感に変化が生まれ、一点ごとに異なる表情を楽しめます。毎日のコーヒーや紅茶などに使いやすい、心地よい大きさのマグです。
