Brandon Hale Wood-Fired Nezumi Shino Tumbler

These wheel-thrown tumblers by Brandon Hale combine a simple cylindrical form with richly varied wood-fired surfaces. Made from wild clay and finished with nezumi shino and black slip, they range from soft gray with sweeping pale lines to densely textured white surfaces with fine pitting, darker speckles, and irregular streaks.

The gently rounded rims and generous proportions make them comfortable vessels for tea, coffee, or other drinks. Each tumbler has its own distinctive surface, reflecting the variations that emerge through wood firing.

Brandon Haleによる、シンプルな円筒形のタンブラーです。自然採取の土をろくろで成形し、ネズミ志野釉と黒化粧土を用いて薪窯で焼成しています。柔らかな灰色の表面に淡い曲線が広がるものから、細かな凹凸や黒い斑点、白い流れ模様が現れるものまで、一点ずつ異なる表情を持っています。

緩やかに丸みを帯びた口縁とゆったりとした大きさで、お茶やコーヒーなど、日々の飲み物に使えます。薪窯での焼成によって生まれた釉肌や模様の違いも、それぞれの器の見どころです。
