Brandon Hale Wood-Fired Wall Vase

Tall, narrow, and quietly sculptural, this handbuilt vase by Brandon Hale can stand on a shelf or table or hang on a wall using a small opening near the top of its back. Made from wild clay, finished with black slip, and wood-fired, it has a charcoal-gray surface marked by subtle variations in tone, small pits, and traces of its handmade construction.

The irregular upper edge interrupts the otherwise restrained rectangular form, while the narrow opening holds a few stems or branches in an upright or gently leaning arrangement. Whether standing or hanging, the vase creates an appealing relationship between its strong vertical form and the more delicate shapes of flowers and foliage.

Handbuilt wild clay; black slip; wood-fired. Hanging hole on back.

Dimensions: 9" H × 2.5" W × 2" D.

Food safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe.

Brandon Hale
