Guy Matsuda Wood-Fired Teacup

Wheel-thrown by Guy Matsuda, these wood-fired stoneware teacups have softly rounded bodies and gently irregular rims that feel comfortable in the hands. Available in three distinctive glazes: shino, with creamy white tones, fine crackle patterns, and delicate speckling; spodumene, with a pale, softly textured surface and subtle impressions in the clay; and green teadust tenmoku, with rich olive-green and golden tones, darker streaks, and flowing glaze variations. Wood firing brings additional depth and individuality to each surface. Their simple, inviting forms make them lovely vessels for enjoying tea throughout the day.

ガイ・マツダがろくろで成形し、薪窯で焼成した炻器製の湯呑み。やわらかく丸みを帯びた胴と、わずかにゆらぎのある口縁が特徴で、両手で包み込むように持つと心地よくなじみます。釉薬は3種類。乳白色の色合いに細かな貫入や斑点が見られる志野釉。淡い色合いとやわらかな質感、土に残された繊細な跡が特徴のスポジュメン釉。そして、深いオリーブグリーンと黄金色に濃い色の筋や釉薬の流れが重なる、緑色のティーダスト天目釉です。薪窯での焼成がそれぞれの表面にさらに奥行きと個性を与えています。素朴で親しみやすい形は、日々のお茶の時間にぴったりです。
