Guy Matsuda Wood-Fired Teapot

Wheel-thrown by Guy Matsuda, these wood-fired stoneware teapots have full, rounded bodies, short necks with fitted lids, angular pouring spouts, and gracefully curved handles. Available in three distinctive finishes: unglazed, with soft gray-brown tones, fine surface markings, and a subtle sheen from the wood firing; spodumene, with a pale ivory glaze and delicate variations in texture and color; and shino, with warm peach, amber, and reddish tones that mingle with creamy white areas near the base. The wood firing brings additional depth and individuality to each surface. The contrast between the rounded body and sharply angled spout gives these teapots a lively, distinctive form, well suited to preparing and serving tea.

ガイ・マツダがろくろで成形し、薪窯で焼成した炻器製のティーポット。ふっくらと丸みを帯びた胴、蓋の付いた短い首、角度のある注ぎ口、優美な曲線を描くハンドルが特徴です。仕上げは3種類。薪窯での焼成によって生まれたやわらかな灰褐色や細かな表面の模様、ほのかな光沢が見られる無釉仕上げ。淡い乳白色の釉薬に、繊細な質感と色の変化が現れるスポジュメン釉。そして、あたたかな桃色や琥珀色、赤みを帯びた色合いが、底に近い乳白色の部分と混ざり合う志野釉です。薪窯での焼成がそれぞれの表面にさらに奥行きと個性を与えています。丸みのある胴と角張った注ぎ口との対比が、生き生きとした独特の形を生み出しており、お茶を淹れて注ぐための実用的で美しい器です。
