Andy Vlock Handbuilt Marbled Wild Clay Tea Cup – Ash Glaze

Handbuilt from marbled wild clays, this tea cup by Andy Vlock has a tall, gently tapered form with softly uneven walls and an irregular rim. The blended clays create subtle shifts of rust, ochre, brown, and gray across the surface, with the movement of the different bodies still visible beneath the glaze.

Ash glaze and wood firing deepen those variations, producing darker passages around the rim and interior along with muted olive, charcoal, and warm earth tones. Each cup differs slightly in shape and surface, with the marbled clay and firing giving every piece its own pattern of color and texture.

Andy Vlockによる、複数の野土を練り合わせて手作業で成形したティーカップです。縦長でゆるやかにすぼまる形に、手仕事によるわずかな揺らぎのある側面と口縁が残されています。異なる土が混ざり合うことで、赤褐色、黄土色、茶、灰色が表面にやわらかく現れ、その流れが釉薬の下からも感じられます。

灰釉と薪窯焼成によって色の変化はさらに深まり、口縁や内側には濃い色調が現れ、落ち着いたオリーブ、炭色、土のあたたかな色が重なります。形や表面、土の模様、焼き上がりには一点ごとに違いがあります。
