Andy Vlock Handbuilt Porcelain Bulb Vase – Ash Glaze

Handbuilt from porcelain, this small vase by Andy Vlock has a rounded, bulb-like body that rises to a narrow, irregular opening. The compact form gives it a satisfying sense of weight and volume, while the slightly uneven surface preserves the marks of hand construction.

A pale ash glaze shifts from warm cream and gray to darker brown and charcoal around the neck, with scattered specks and small firing marks across the body. Wood firing gives the surface further variation, including smoky patches and warmer flashes near the base. The narrow opening works especially well for a few slender stems or a spare arrangement.

Andy Vlockによる、磁器土を手作業で成形した小ぶりな花器です。丸くふくらんだ球根のような胴から、細くわずかに揺らぎのある口へとつながる形で、手仕事による表面の変化がそのまま残されています。

淡い灰釉はクリーム色や灰色を基調としながら、口まわりでは茶や炭のような濃い色へと変化しています。胴には細かな斑点や焼成による跡が散り、薪窯によって煙のような濃淡や高台付近のあたたかな色合いも生まれています。細い口は、数本の花や草をすっきりと生けるのに適しています。
