Andy Vlock Handbuilt Porcelain Medium Bowl – Corn Ash or White Dolomite

Handbuilt from porcelain, these medium bowls by Andy Vlock have a broad, gently rounded form that rises from a small foot to an open, subtly irregular rim. Their simple profile leaves plenty of room for the glaze and wood firing to register across the surface, with small differences in shape and finish from bowl to bowl.

The two glaze variants have quite different characters. White Dolomite is soft ivory to pale gray, with delicate vertical movement near the rim and subtle tonal variation across the interior. Corn Ash is warmer and more varied, ranging from muted olive and tan to deeper brown, with fine speckling and areas where the wood firing creates darker, more concentrated surfaces. In both versions, the glaze responds visibly to the firing rather than settling into a uniform finish.

Andy Vlockによる、磁器土を手作業で成形した中鉢です。小ぶりの高台から、やわらかく丸みを帯びた胴が大きく開き、わずかに揺らぎのある口縁へとつながります。シンプルな形だからこそ、釉薬と薪窯焼成によって生まれる表面の変化がよく現れ、一点ごとに形や焼き上がりにわずかな違いがあります。

釉薬は2種類あります。White Dolomiteは、アイボリーから淡い灰色を基調とし、口縁付近には釉の流れによる細かな縦の表情が見られます。Corn Ashは、落ち着いたオリーブ色や黄褐色から深い茶色まで幅があり、細かな斑点や薪窯による濃淡がより強く現れます。どちらも均一な表面ではなく、焼成による変化そのものが器の表情となっています。
