Andy Vlock Handbuilt Wild Clay Seed Pod Vase – Porcelain Slip & Ash Glaze

Handbuilt from red wild clay with river sand, this vase by Andy Vlock has a softly elongated, seed-pod form, rounded through the body and narrowing toward a small open neck. Subtle horizontal ridges circle the lower half, while the slightly uneven contour keeps the form from becoming symmetrical or overly regular.

Porcelain slip and ash glaze lighten the surface to a pale gray-green, with the warmer clay showing through in places beneath. The wood firing brings fine speckling, tonal shifts, and a network of delicate crackling across the glaze, emphasizing both the texture of the clay and the layered surface. The narrow opening works naturally with a few fine branches, grasses, or slender stems.

Andy Vlockによる、赤い野土に川砂を用いて手作業で成形した花器です。種のさやを思わせる縦長の形で、丸みのある胴から小さな口へとゆるやかにすぼまっています。下半分には控えめな横方向の筋がめぐり、わずかに揺らぐ輪郭が、整いすぎない自然な形をつくっています。

磁器土の化粧と灰釉によって表面は淡い灰緑色となり、その下からところどころに赤土のあたたかな色がのぞきます。薪窯焼成による細かな斑点や色の濃淡、釉面に広がる繊細な貫入が、土の質感と重なり合った表情を生み出しています。細い口は、枝や草、数本の細い花を生けるのによく合います。
