Andy Vlock Handbuilt Square Wild Clay Platter – Porcelain & Wood Ash Glaze

Handbuilt from red wild clay, this square platter by Andy Vlock has softly rounded corners and a low, gently raised rim. The broad interior gives the surface room to develop across the full twelve-inch form, while slight shifts along the edges keep the geometry from feeling rigid.

Porcelain slip under a porcelain-and-wood-ash glaze creates a richly varied surface of pale gray-green, olive, cream, and brown. Across the center, dense clusters of darker spots and small pools of glaze produce an almost granular pattern, while deeper green collects in irregular passages near the rim. Fine crackling and the effects of the wood firing add still more variation, making the surface change noticeably with light and viewing angle.

Andy Vlockによる、赤い野土を手作業で成形した正方形の大皿です。角はやわらかく丸みを帯び、低く立ち上がる縁には手仕事によるわずかな揺らぎがあります。12インチ四方の広い面によって、釉薬と焼成による表情をゆったりと見ることのできる器です。

磁器土の化粧の上に、磁器土と木灰を用いた釉薬が施され、淡い灰緑、オリーブ、クリーム、茶色が複雑に重なっています。中央には濃い斑点や小さな釉溜まりが密集し、縁に近い部分では深い緑が不規則に現れます。細かな貫入や薪窯焼成による色の変化も加わり、光の当たり方によって表面の印象が変化します。
