Andy Vlock Handbuilt Red Clay Tea Bowl – White Dolomite

Handbuilt from red clay, this tea bowl by Andy Vlock has a wide, open form that rises from a compact foot into gently curving walls and a subtly irregular rim. A white dolomite glaze gives the bowl a soft, milky surface, with faint variation in tone that allows the handbuilt form to remain visible rather than smoothing it away.

Wood firing adds warmer brown and gray markings along the rim and occasional darker passages inside the bowl, where they stand out against the pale glaze. The broad interior and restrained shape make the variations created through forming, glazing, and firing especially easy to see.

Andy Vlockによる、赤土を手作業で成形したティーボウルです。小ぶりの高台から、ゆるやかに湾曲した側面が大きく開き、わずかに揺らぎのある口縁へとつながります。白いドロマイト釉がやわらかな乳白色の表面をつくり、その淡い濃淡の中にも手仕事による形の変化が感じられます。

薪窯焼成によって、口縁にはあたたかな茶や灰色の変化が現れ、内側にもところどころ濃い焼きの表情が残っています。広く開いた器形と抑えた造形によって、成形、施釉、焼成による細かな違いがよく見える一碗です。
