Ayumi Nojiri Wheel-Thrown Small Dish – Pale Gray Glaze

These small wheel-thrown stoneware dishes by Ayumi Nojiri have gently sloping sides, a shallow interior, and a softly defined rim. Concentric throwing lines radiate from the center, giving the otherwise simple form a subtle sense of movement.

Electric-fired, their pale gray glazes vary from warm, speckled cream to cooler blue-gray, with delicate shifts in tone that reveal the contours of the clay beneath. Just the right size for a small serving of pickles, nuts, or sweets, they are equally useful as individual dishes at the table.

Each dish is handmade, with slight variations in glaze and surface.

Ayumi Nojiriがろくろで成形した、小ぶりな炻器の皿。緩やかに立ち上がる側面と浅い器形、柔らかく整えられた口縁が特徴です。中心から広がる同心円状のろくろ目が、シンプルな形に穏やかな動きを添えています。

電気窯で焼成された淡い灰色の釉薬は、温かみのある斑点入りのクリーム色から、青みを帯びた灰色まで、一枚ごとに微妙な違いがあります。釉調の濃淡によって、素地の緩やかな起伏が感じられます。漬物やナッツ、小さなお菓子などを盛るのにちょうどよく、取り皿としても活躍します。

手仕事による器のため、釉薬の色合いや表面の表情にはそれぞれわずかな違いがあります。
