Brandon Hale Wood-Fired Small Matcha Tea Bowl – Black Slip

This small, wheel-thrown stoneware matcha bowl by Brandon Hale has a compact, nearly cylindrical form, with gently rounded lower walls and a broad, open rim. Finished with black slip and fired for three days in a wood kiln, its surface reveals subtle variations of charcoal, smoky gray, and muted brown. The dark interior retains delicate throwing lines and a small raised center, lending depth and texture to the otherwise simple form. Brandon Haleによる、ろくろ成形の小ぶりな炻器の抹茶碗。ほぼ円筒形の胴に、下部の緩やかな丸みと広く開いた口縁が特徴です。黒化粧土を施し、薪窯で3日間焼成することで、炭のような黒から煙を思わせる灰色、落ち着いた茶色まで、繊細な色の変化が生まれました。内側にはかすかなろくろ目と、底の中央に小さな盛り上がりが残り、簡潔な形に奥行きと質感を与えています。控えめな色合いの中に豊かな表情を持ち、抹茶を点て、味わうひとときに寄り添う器です。
