Guy Matsuda Large Wood-Fired Vase

Wheel-thrown by Guy Matsuda, these large wood-fired stoneware vases have full, rounded bodies, gently sloping shoulders, and narrow necks with subtly flared rims. The unglazed surfaces reveal warm cream, sandy brown, and soft reddish tones, with fine vertical markings and horizontal bands that emphasize the curves of the clay. Wood firing brings subtle variations in color and texture, including areas of natural ash sheen. Available in three versions: a shorter, rounded vase; a taller, more elongated form; and a tall version with an ash-glazed rim that adds a warm, softly mottled accent. Their generous bodies and narrow openings make them particularly well suited to arrangements of branches, grasses, or seasonal flowers, while their richly textured surfaces are equally engaging without flowers.

ガイ・マツダがろくろで成形し、薪窯で焼成した大きめの炻器製花器。ふっくらと丸みを帯びた胴、なだらかな肩、わずかに外側へ広がる口縁を持つ細い首が特徴です。釉薬を掛けていない表面には、あたたかな乳白色や砂色、やわらかな赤みを帯びた色合いが現れ、細かな縦の模様や横の帯状のラインが土の曲線を引き立てています。薪窯での焼成によって色合いや質感に微妙な変化が生まれ、自然に付着した灰による光沢も見られます。仕上げは3種類。ふっくらと丸みのある無釉の花器、より背の高い細長い無釉の花器、そして口縁に灰釉を施し、あたたかな色合いの変化を加えた背の高い花器です。豊かな丸みのある胴と細い口元は、枝ものや草花、季節の花を生けるのに適しており、何も生けずにそのまま飾っても、変化に富んだ土の表情を楽しめます。
