Guy Matsuda Wood-Fired Small Vase

Wheel-thrown by Guy Matsuda, these small wood-fired stoneware vases have full, rounded bodies, gently sloping shoulders, and narrow necks with subtly flared rims. Available in three distinctive finishes: unglazed, revealing warm clay tones, fine vertical markings, and natural variations from the firing; shino, with a soft cream and amber glaze that gives way to warm reddish tones near the base; and green teadust tenmoku, with rich olive-green and golden tones that shift across the surface. Wood firing lends each vase its own variations in color and texture. Their pleasing proportions make them well suited to a few fresh flowers, dried grasses, or a single branch, while their rounded forms are equally engaging on their own.

ガイ・マツダがろくろで成形し、薪窯で焼成した小ぶりの炻器製花器。ふっくらと丸みを帯びた胴、なだらかな肩、わずかに外側へ広がる口縁を持つ細い首が特徴です。仕上げは3種類。土のあたたかな色合いや細かな縦の模様、焼成による自然な変化が見られる無釉仕上げ。やわらかな乳白色と琥珀色の釉薬が、底に近づくにつれて赤みを帯びた土の色へと移り変わる志野釉。そして、深いオリーブグリーンと黄金色が表面に豊かな変化を見せる緑色のティーダスト天目釉です。薪窯での焼成によって色合いや質感に個性が生まれ、一点ごとに異なる表情を楽しめます。生花を数本、ドライフラワーや小枝を生けるのにちょうどよい大きさで、何も生けずにそのまま飾っても丸みのある美しい形を楽しめます。
