Guy Matsuda Wood-Fired Plate

Wheel-thrown by Guy Matsuda, this wood-fired stoneware plate has a gently curved surface, a shallow profile, and a softly rounded rim. A pale shino glaze brings warm ivory and cream tones, delicate speckling, and subtle variations from the firing. Across the surface, a series of long, gently curving brushwork lines adds movement and a quiet sense of rhythm. The contrast between these simple marks and the softly textured glaze gives the plate its distinctive character. Well suited to serving appetizers, small dishes, or desserts, it can also be displayed on a stand or shelf.

ガイ・マツダがろくろで成形し、薪窯で焼成した炻器製の皿。ゆるやかに湾曲した浅い形と、やわらかく丸みを帯びた縁が特徴です。淡い志野釉には、あたたかな乳白色やクリーム色、繊細な斑点、薪窯での焼成による微妙な色の変化が見られます。表面には、ゆるやかな曲線を描く長い筆の線が配され、静かな動きとリズムを生み出しています。シンプルな線とやわらかな質感の釉薬との対比が、この皿ならではの表情をつくり出しています。前菜や小さなおかず、デザートなどを盛るのに適しており、皿立てや棚に飾って楽しむこともできます。
