Guy Matsuda Wood-Fired Serving Bowl

Wheel-thrown by Guy Matsuda, this wood-fired stoneware serving bowl has a broad, open form, gently sloping sides, and a softly rounded rim. A pale shino glaze covers the surface, with warm ivory and cream tones, delicate speckling, and subtle variations from the wood firing. The glossy interior catches the light, revealing faint traces of the potter’s wheel and gentle shifts in the glaze. Its generous proportions make it well suited to serving salads, vegetables, fruit, or shared dishes, while its simple, graceful form is equally appealing on its own.

ガイ・マツダがろくろで成形し、薪窯で焼成した炻器製の盛り鉢。広く開いた形、ゆるやかに傾斜する側面、やわらかく丸みを帯びた口縁が特徴です。表面には淡い志野釉が施され、あたたかな乳白色やクリーム色、繊細な斑点、薪窯での焼成による微妙な色の変化が見られます。光沢のある内側は光を受けて、ろくろ成形のかすかな跡や釉薬の穏やかな色の移ろいを映し出します。ゆったりとした大きさで、サラダや野菜料理、果物、取り分ける料理などを盛るのに適しており、何も盛らずにそのまま置いても、シンプルで美しい形を楽しめます。
