Guy Matsuda Wood-Fired Serving Platter

Wheel-thrown by Guy Matsuda, these wood-fired stoneware serving platters have gently curved sides, broad open surfaces, and softly rounded rims. A pale shino glaze brings warm ivory and cream tones, delicate speckling, and subtle variations from the wood firing. Available in three patterns: grid, with lightly incised intersecting lines; spiral, with concentric rings that emphasize the movement of the potter’s wheel; and leaf, with three graceful, branching designs carved into the surface. Each pattern offers a different way of appreciating the platter’s simple, generous form. Well suited to serving vegetables, fruit, salads, or shared dishes, these platters are equally appealing displayed on a shelf or stand.

ガイ・マツダがろくろで成形し、薪窯で焼成した炻器製の盛り皿。ゆるやかに立ち上がる側面、広々とした表面、やわらかく丸みを帯びた口縁が特徴です。淡い志野釉には、あたたかな乳白色やクリーム色、繊細な斑点、薪窯での焼成による微妙な色の変化が見られます。模様は3種類。交差する線を浅く彫り込んだ格子模様。ろくろの回転を感じさせる同心円状の渦巻き模様。そして、3本のしなやかな枝葉のような線を彫り込んだ葉の模様です。それぞれの模様が、ゆったりとしたシンプルな器の形に異なる表情を与えています。野菜料理や果物、サラダ、取り分ける料理などを盛るのに適しており、棚や皿立てに飾って楽しむこともできます。
