This kairagi katakuchi by Brandon Hale is wheel-thrown and hand-altered, made from stoneware enriched with sand for added texture. The piece is finished with a thick kairagi Shino glaze that crackles and shrinks dramatically in the firing, creating a stunning surface of crests and valleys. Wood and soda firing bring depth and variation to the glaze, highlighting its rich tactile quality. Designed for pouring but equally compelling as a sculptural object.

このかいらぎ片口は、Brandon Hale によってろくろ成形と手作業による変形を加えられた作品です。砂を加えた陶土で作られ、厚く施されたかいらぎ志野釉が焼成中に収縮し、独特のひび割れ模様が生まれています。薪とソーダの焼成により釉薬に奥行きと表情が加わり、豊かな質感が際立ちます。注器としてだけでなく、彫刻的な美しさを持つ一品です。
