Andy Vlock White Serving Bowl

This large, hand-carved serving bowl by Andy Vlock is a stunning balance of texture, glaze, and fire. Wheel-thrown from red clay, layered with porcelain slip, and finished with an ash glaze, this piece was wood-fired, allowing natural variations in color and surface depth to emerge. The result is a bowl that carries the imprint of the flame, with areas of soft white, warm earth tones, and darker accents where the firing process left its mark. The hand-carved ridges add both tactile interest and a subtle sense of movement, enhancing its sculptural presence.

Measuring 5 inches high and 11 inches in diameter at the rim (5 inches at the foot), this generously sized bowl is perfect for family-style serving—ideal for large salads, hearty stews, or shared dishes at the table. In our own home, we reach for one of Andy’s large bowls whenever we gather around the table for a big meal—whether it’s fresh greens or a steaming pot of chili.
