Guy Matsuda’s mastery of glaze and form is on luminous display in this wheel-thrown porcelain bowl. Subtly altered after throwing, its profile feels both balanced and organic. The oxblood glaze—a feldspathic formulation with copper—reveals itself here in rich violets, deep reds, and soft transitions where flame and glaze have conspired. Wood firing brings unpredictability and nuance: a shimmering interior like the surface of a plum, and a painterly exterior where red gives way to pale green. The foot is modest and well-trimmed, grounding the bowl’s generous open form. A piece to hold, use, and contemplate.

ガイ・マツダによる磁器の盛り鉢。轆轤成形後にわずかに形を加え、自然でありながらも美しく整った輪郭に仕上がっています。鉄分を含む長石系の「オックスブラッド釉」が、木灰の炎に包まれながら焼成され、深紅や紫、柔らかな緑が器全体に移ろうように現れています。内側には艶やかで深みのある紫色、外側には揺らめく赤と淡い緑が重なり、まるで抽象画のような表情。すっきりと整った高台が全体の安定感を生み出し、使いやすさと存在感を兼ね備えた一品です。
