Guy Matsuda Leaf-Resist Shino Vase – Wood Fired

In this wheel-thrown vase, Guy Matsuda draws out both delicacy and depth. Crafted from BMix clay blended with Helmer kaolin and glazed in shino, it was wood fired to bring out a glowing spectrum of soft rust, ember orange, and pale ash tones. Wax-resist markings trace the form of windblown leaves—each stem and curve revealed through the resist process, protected from glaze and flame. The result is a quietly vibrant surface, richly tactile and full of movement. Balanced proportions and a narrow mouth make it equally suited for display or use as a floral vessel.

この壺には、ガイ・マツダの繊細さと深みのある表現が宿っています。BMix粘土にHelmerカオリンを加えた土で轆轤成形され、志野釉を施し、薪窯で焼成されたことで、柔らかな赤錆、火のような橙、そして淡い灰色が溶け合う豊かな表情が生まれました。ロウ抜き技法で描かれた葉の模様が、まるで風に揺れる枝葉のように器を包み込み、焼成の間もその姿を守りながら現れています。滑らかで手触りのある質感と、静かに動きを感じさせる佇まい。口がやや絞られた形状は、一輪挿しや小さな花のアレンジにもぴったりです。
