Guy Matsuda Shino Leaf Vase

This commanding vase by Guy Matsuda carries the spirit of fire and form. Wheel-thrown from BMix stoneware with Helmers kaolin, its rounded shoulders and full-bodied curves are cloaked in a shino glaze that glows from within—earthy, embered, and alive. Across the surface, Matsuda has brushed a wax-resist design evoking the gestures of windblown leaves or calligraphic strokes, creating a dynamic, layered presence. Fired in a wood kiln, the piece holds the memory of flame: a quiet power, grounded yet moving.
