Guy Matsuda Gas-Fired Ash Glaze Large Bowl
This large bowl by Guy Matsuda is defined by its open, generous form and rhythmic surface. The wide diameter and gently rising walls create a sense of ease and balance, inviting both daily use and shared meals.
Wheel thrown in stoneware and finished in a gas-fired ash glaze, the surface carries a soft, celadon-like green tone, deepening toward the center where the glaze gathers into a richer pool. The interior reveals subtle variation and fine crackling, while the exterior is marked by delicate, repeating impressions that encircle the form, giving the bowl a quiet tactile rhythm.
The contrast between the smooth, luminous interior and the textured outer surface creates a dynamic interplay of touch and light. The glaze breaks gently along the rim, revealing warm clay tones beneath and grounding the piece.
Well suited for serving salads, noodles, or shared dishes, while also offering a strong visual presence on the table.
Food safe, microwave safe, dishwasher safe.
