Winding through forest edges and untamed growth on her land in Western Massachusetts, Kokoro Bensenoff gathers her materials by hand—bittersweet vine, grape vine, and virginia creeper—each with its own wild temperament. She lets the memory of their entanglement shape the basket’s form. In this piece, strands twist freely, refusing symmetry but finding harmony. It’s a basket that feels more like a gesture, a moment of trust between hand and vine. Everything is left raw, intact—just as the land gave it. A container, yes—but also a story of place, season, and the slow choreography of care.
ココロ・ベンセノフは、マサチューセッツ州西部にある自らの土地で、ビタースイート、グレープバイン、バージニアクリーパーを手で丁寧に採取します。それぞれの蔓が持つ野生の個性をそのままに、編むというより共に踊るように、かごの形が自然に生まれていきます。この作品では、対称を拒むように自由に絡み合う蔓が、見事な調和を見せています。すべてが無加工のまま、土地の恵みをそのままに編まれたかご。器でありながら、そこには季節と場所、そして蔓と手のあいだに育まれた静かな物語が宿っています。
