Silene DeCiucies Medium Wood-Fired Vase, Kintsugi Repair

Handmade by Silene DeCiucies and wood-fired for layered, atmospheric surface, this medium stoneware vase carries the quiet strength of the kiln’s fire. Thrown on the wheel and finished with feldspar and wood ash, the surface shows soft ash deposits and subtle flashing, with a gentle rhythm of throwing marks still visible beneath the glaze.

The vase arrived with superficial exterior hairline cracks that did not penetrate the form. These were carefully repaired in-house using a contemporary kintsugi-inspired method with linseed resin and metallic mica. The golden lines remain intentionally visible, tracing the vessel’s history while reinforcing its structure without altering its function.

Balanced and substantial in the hand, with a generous belly and steady foot. Suitable for floral arrangements or as a sculptural object on its own.

Silene DeCiuciesによる手仕事の花器。轆轤成形のストーンウェアを薪窯で焼成し、長石と木灰によって生まれた重なりのある表情が魅力です。灰の付着や炎の痕跡が穏やかに現れ、釉の下には成形時のリズムが静かに残っています。

制作後、器の外側にごく表面的なヘアライン状のひびが見られましたが、貫通はしていませんでした。これらは当店にて、亜麻仁油樹脂と金属雲母を用いた現代的な金継ぎの技法で丁寧に修復されています。金の線はあえて残され、器の履歴を語りながら、構造的な安定性を保っています。

ふくよかな胴と安定した高台を持ち、花器としても、オブジェとしても美しく佇みます。
