Guy Matsuda Pitcher – Cobalt Ash & Bare Clay

This one-of-a-kind pitcher by Guy Matsuda embodies the quiet drama of fire and form. Wheel-thrown from BMix white clay blended with Helmer kaolin, it’s topped with a flowing glaze of cobalt and wood ash that breaks into inky pools and deep blues—then gives way to the soft, unglazed warmth of raw clay. The transition between the two surfaces is especially expressive: a horizon line where process becomes landscape. Elegant and sturdy, the pitcher feels balanced in hand, with a pulled handle and a precise, gently pinched spout. Both a functional object and a work of presence.
