Juli Kirk Serving Platter

Hand-built and saggar-fired, this wide serving platter carries Juli Kirk’s layered surface language—terra sigillata beneath veils of glaze and oxide, marked by the unpredictable atmosphere of pine needles, steel wool, and flame. A soft field of white is interrupted by drifting charcoal and smoke tones, with subtle blushes where heat and material have met most intensely. The rim undulates slightly, holding the memory of the hand.

The surface is finished with liquid quartz, lending a quiet durability while preserving the tactile, almost skin-like quality of the piece. Generous in scale yet visually light, it works beautifully for shared dishes, bread, or as a contemplative centerpiece.

手びねりで成形され、サガー焼成によって仕上げられた大皿。テラ・シジラータの下地に釉薬や酸化物を重ね、松葉やスチールウールなどとともに焼成することで生まれる偶然性に満ちた表情が広がります。やわらかな白の中に、煙のようなグレーや炭の色合い、ほのかな赤みが浮かび上がります。縁はわずかに揺らぎ、手の痕跡を感じさせます。
