Brandon Hale Wild Clay Vase

This vase by Brandon Hale is wheel thrown from wild clay and left unglazed, then wood and salt fired to allow the kiln atmosphere to work directly on the surface. The result is a softly textured skin marked by pale flashing, granular deposits, and gentle tonal variation where salt vapor and flame interacted with the clay body.

The rounded form and open mouth give the piece a calm, generous presence, well suited to holding a small bouquet or dried arrangement. With no glaze to mediate the surface, the vase reads as a direct record of material and process—earth, heat, and time held in balance.
