Josh Kopin Firefall Donburi Bowl

Josh Kopin’s Firefall donburi bowls feel as if they were born in a river of fire—ash and flame frozen mid-motion on a soft, speckled form. The surfaces evoke the mineral richness of igneous rock, with delicate traces of rust, cream, and warm white cascading over the clay like sediment exposed after rain. The gentle inward curve near the foot adds a subtle lift to the bowl’s grounding presence. Ideal for donburi, soba, or generous servings of salad, grains, or fruit. Wheel-thrown, glazed, and fired in a gas kiln.

Each piece varies in shape and glaze surface—an expression of Josh’s improvisational approach.

ジョシュ・コーピンによるこの「ファイアフォール」丼鉢は、まるで火の川から生まれたかのような存在感。炎と灰の動きがそのまま器の表面に焼きつき、柔らかな斑点模様の上に、錆色、クリーム、温かな白が重なり合い、雨の後に露わになる鉱物の地層を思わせます。高台のすぐ上にほんのりくびれが入り、重心のある形に軽やかさを添えています。

どんぶりやそばはもちろん、サラダや雑穀、果物などにもぴったりです。ろくろ成形、釉薬掛け、ガス窯焼成。ジョシュの即興的な制作スタイルにより、ひとつひとつ形や表情が異なります。
