Mihoko Wakabayashi’s “Flowers in the Night” carries the quiet beauty of spring blossoms beneath a luminous moon. Handwoven in the saori method, each branch, petal, and the glowing moon itself holds the rhythm of Mihoko’s improvisational weaving, where no pattern is predetermined, and care is given to every thread. The woven forms are then carefully sewn onto a soft double-thickness cotton backdrop, allowing them to emerge like living presences against the night sky. The result is a serene vision—branches of sakura opening in gentle color, a golden moon watching overhead—inviting the viewer into stillness, wonder, and the intimate touch of the maker’s hand.
