Brandon Hale Wild Clay Chopstick Rest

Chopstick rest by Brandon Hale made from his Dark Star wild clay and wood and soda fired. The small rectangular form has softly rounded edges and a quiet weight in the hand, allowing the natural character of the clay and firing to take center stage.

The surface reveals the complex atmosphere of the kiln—earthy browns, smoky grays, and subtle mineral variations created through the interaction of flame, ash, and soda during firing. These natural markings give each piece a unique landscape-like quality, with depth and movement across the surface.

Designed to lift chopstick tips gently off the table, this hashi oki adds a thoughtful and tactile element to the place setting. Its understated presence pairs beautifully with both rustic stoneware and refined tableware, bringing a small moment of handmade warmth to the meal.
