Brandon Hale Wild Clay Small Dish

Handbuilt by Brandon Hale using locally sourced wild clay, this small dish is finished with black slip and wood ash, then electric fired. During firing, the piece was placed inside a clay container within the kiln, allowing the ash and atmosphere to interact subtly with the surface. The result is a varied, matte finish with areas of gentle texture and depth that reflect the firing process.

Measuring approximately 4.5 inches across, the dish’s faceted form and slightly raised sides make it well suited for serving small bites, holding condiments, resting jewelry, or gathering everyday objects. Compact and versatile, it carries a quiet, tactile presence shaped by both intention and chance.

ブランドン・ヘイルによるこの小さな器は、地元で採取したワイルドクレイを用い、黒化粧土と木灰を施して電気窯で焼成されています。焼成時には、器を粘土製の容器の中に入れて窯に納めることで、灰や窯内の環境が表面に穏やかに作用し、表情に揺らぎと奥行きを与えています。

直径約11.5cmのサイズで、角のある形とわずかに立ち上がった縁が特徴です。少量の料理や薬味の器として、またアクセサリーや日常の小物を置く器としても適しています。意図と偶然が重なり合って生まれた、静かで触感豊かな一枚です。
