Brandon Hale Wild Clay Long Serving Tray

This long serving tray by Brandon Hale is made from wild clay that has been extruded, carved, and finished with black slip and wood ash before being electric fired. Fine linear texture runs the length of the tray, recording the movement of making while giving the surface a subtle rhythm.

The firing has produced a layered blue-gray surface with soft variation and occasional ash deposits, evoking the depth and atmosphere of reduction firing while remaining grounded in Brandon’s current electric kiln practice. The form is gently lifted along the sides, creating a shallow cradle well suited to serving.

Ideal for presenting small dishes, sushi, pastries, or shared accompaniments, this tray also functions beautifully as a sculptural tabletop piece when not in use.

Approximate dimensions: 10 inches long × 3.75 inches wide, with a subtle 1-inch lift along the sides.

焼成によって現れた青みを帯びたグレーの色調は、層のある奥行きを感じさせ、還元焼成を思わせる雰囲気をまといながらも、現在の電気窯での探究を正直に反映しています。側面にはわずかな立ち上がりがあり、器としての使いやすさも備えています。

小皿料理や寿司、焼き菓子などの盛り付けに適し、使わないときには造形的なオブジェとしても楽しめる一枚です。
