Andy Vlock Wood-Fired Small Tea Bowl — Unglazed Nerikomi Stoneware

This small tea bowl by Andy Vlock is formed using nerikomi, a technique in which differently colored clays are blended and layered before shaping. The bowl is left unglazed and wood fired, allowing the natural tones of the clay and the subtle effects of flame to define the surface.

Soft, flowing patterns move across the exterior and interior, resembling sediment, water-worn stone, or layered earth. The surface has a satiny, stone-like feel—smooth but alive with variation—inviting both touch and close looking. The uneven rim adds a gentle sense of movement, giving the bowl a quietly expressive presence without excess gesture.
