Brandon Hale Dinner Plate

his dinner plate by Brandon Hale is made from wild clay using a combination of slab building, wheel work, and molding, then electric fired with wood ash to develop a surface that recalls the depth and tonal variation of reduction firing. The hexagonal form introduces a quiet geometry, while the subtly curved profile softens the plate’s presence on the table.

The surface carries fine linear texture and layered gray-blue tones, with ash responding gently to the clay body during firing. Matte and tactile rather than glossy, the plate invites close looking and touch, balancing precision of form with the variability of material and process.

Suitable for everyday use or special meals, this plate also stands comfortably on display when not in use.

こちらのディナープレートは、Brandon Haleが野生粘土を用い、板作り・ろくろ・型成形を組み合わせて制作した作品です。木灰を用い、電気窯で焼成することで、還元焼成を思わせる深みのある色調と繊細な表情を引き出しています。

六角形の形は静かな幾何学性を持ちつつ、わずかに反った立ち上がりが器全体にやわらかさを与えています。表面には細かな線状のテクスチャーと灰の反応によるグレーから青みを帯びた色の重なりが現れ、落ち着いたマットな質感が特徴です。

日常使いはもちろん、使わないときには飾って楽しむこともできる、造形性と実用性を兼ね備えた一枚です。
