Chinatsu Nagamune Indigo Katazome Wall Hanging – Skyline (Day)

Created by Chinatsu Nagamune, Skyline (Day) is hand-dyed using her traditional katazome process: hand-cut stencils, rice-resist paste, and repeated dips in fermented indigo grown from her own plants. The textile is vintage hand-woven Vietnamese hemp, whose soft, irregular weave absorbs the indigo in shifting tones of blue and white—light, open, and quietly radiant.

This daylight version of the skyline motif feels airy and expansive, its repeating shapes forming a horizon of rhythm and breath. It was created alongside Skyline (Night) using the same stencil pattern; the two pieces echo one another beautifully, whether displayed together or individually.

永棟ちなつによる藍型染の壁掛け作品「Skyline (Day)」。自ら育てた藍を発酵させ、手彫りの型紙と米糊の防染を用いて染め上げた、伝統的な型染め技法による作品です。ヴィンテージの手織りヘンプ布が藍を柔らかく吸い込み、明るい青と白の穏やかな濃淡が生まれています。

夜景を思わせる「Skyline (Night)」と同じ型紙を用いて制作された作品で、ふたつを並べると呼応し合うような景色が広がります。それぞれ単独でも心地よい存在感を放つ一枚です。
