Guy Matsuda Large Vase - Shell Imprints

A striking tall vase by Guy Matsuda, wheel-thrown from stoneware and fired in a wood and salt kiln. Shells placed directly against the surface during tumble stacking have left subtle imprints and bursts of ash effects, while the slip and throwing lines give the piece a sense of motion and tactility. At 11” high and 3.5” in diameter, it’s a commanding yet quiet presence—perfect for long branches or tall arrangements.

Guy Matsudaによる存在感のある縦長の花器。ストーンウェアを轆轤成形し、薪と塩による焼成で仕上げられています。貝殻を器表に直接置いて焼成する「貝目」技法によって、灰の痕跡や自然な模様が浮かび上がります。滑らかな化粧土と轆轤目が相まって、動きと手触りを感じさせる一品。高さ約28cm、直径約9cm。枝物や高さのある草花によく映えます。
