Guy Matsuda Unglazed Chattermark Vase

This wheel-thrown vase by Guy Matsuda carries a warm, flame-blushed surface shaped by the atmosphere of the wood kiln. Fine chattermarks encircle the lower half of the vessel, creating a subtle rhythm beneath the softly rounded form. Left unglazed, the stoneware surface reveals quiet shifts of orange, ochre, and earth tones, with a tactile matte finish that invites close attention.

A beautiful vessel for branches, dried stems, or simple everyday arrangements, equally at home as a sculptural object on its own.

ガイ・マツダによる薪窯焼成の花器。丸みを帯びたやわらかなフォルムに、下部をめぐる繊細なチャターマークが静かなリズムを生み出しています。無釉の石器肌には、薪窯ならではの橙色や黄土色、土味のある自然な発色が現れ、落ち着いた質感と温かみを感じさせます。

枝ものや草花をさりげなく生ける花器として、またそのまま空間に置くだけでも美しい存在感があります。
