Silene DeCiucies Small Wood-Fired Vase

These small wood-fired vases by Silene DeCiucies are offered as two closely related variations, each wheel thrown in stoneware and finished with kaolin slip before wood firing. Though similar in scale, the two forms carry distinct silhouettes: one slightly fuller and rounder, the other more elongated and upright.

Fine incised surface markings wrap around each vessel, creating a quiet rhythmic texture beneath the atmospheric effects of the kiln. Ash deposits, flame flashing, and subtle carbon markings settle softly across the surfaces, giving each vase a calm, weathered presence shaped directly by the firing process.

Their intimate scale makes them especially suited for a single stem, a small branch, or simply as sculptural objects on their own. The restrained palette and softened surfaces invite close looking and handling.

シレーヌ・デシウシーズによる小型の薪窯花器シリーズ。2点それぞれにわずかに異なるフォルムがあり、ひとつは丸みを帯びた柔らかな形、もうひとつはやや縦長で引き締まった印象を持っています。

ストーンウェアを轆轤成形し、カオリン化粧土を施した後に薪窯で焼成。表面には繊細な刻み模様が施され、灰や炎、炭化による自然な窯変が静かに重なっています。

落ち着いた色合いと柔らかな質感は、一本の草花や小枝を生けるのに美しく、オブジェとして置くだけでも存在感があります。手の中に収まる親密なサイズ感も魅力です。
