Ayumi Nojiri Wheel-Thrown Stoneware Coffee Mug

These wheel-thrown stoneware mugs by Ayumi Nojiri pair simple cylindrical forms with broad, gently shaped handles. The restrained profiles keep the focus on the surfaces, which vary noticeably between the two mugs.

The Gray-Blue mug has a quiet, cool-toned surface with subtle speckling and a low, wide proportion. The Tan mug is slightly taller and narrower, with a warm earthy surface that allows the throwing lines to remain visible around the body. Each is individually made, with slight variations in form and surface.

Ayumi Nojiriによる、ろくろ成形のストーンウェアマグです。すっきりとした筒形のフォルムに、ゆるやかに形づくられた大きめのハンドルを合わせています。シンプルな形だからこそ、それぞれの表面の色合いや質感の違いがよく伝わります。

Gray-Blueは、わずかに斑点の見える落ち着いた青みがかったグレーの表面で、低く広がりのあるプロポーション。Tanはやや細身で高さがあり、あたたかみのある土色の表面に、ろくろ目がやさしく残っています。一点ずつ制作されているため、形や表情にはそれぞれわずかな違いがあります。
