Large chawan tea bowl by Brandon Hale, wheel thrown in stoneware and finished with black slip and ash in an electric firing. The form is slightly taller and wider than its companion bowl, with softly ribbed throwing lines that move around the exterior and give the piece a quiet sense of movement.

The surface is a deep charcoal black with subtle tonal variation from the slip and ash. Inside, the bowl deepens into a rich blue-black field where the throwing rings remain visible, creating a sense of depth when the bowl is filled with tea.

Comfortable in the hands and generously sized, the bowl is well suited for matcha preparation and drinking. It also works beautifully for small servings of soup, rice, or desserts. 表面は深いチャコールブラックで、スリップと灰によるわずかな色調の変化が見られます。内側は青みを帯びた黒の奥行きある表情となり、お茶を注いだときにその深みがいっそう引き立ちます。
