Juli Kirk Saggar-Fired Pasta Bowl

This wide pasta bowl by Juli Kirk carries the atmospheric markings of the artist’s distinctive saggar-firing process. The softly irregular rim and gently sloping form create a natural, organic presence, while the surface reveals layered traces of the materials used in firing: terra sigillata, cobalt carbonate washes, steel wool markings and impressions, sawdust, and liquid quartz. During the saggar firing and second firing, these elements interact unpredictably in the kiln, producing smoky halos, mineral blues, and subtle earth-toned transitions across the clay.

The broad, open form makes this bowl ideal for pasta, grain bowls, salads, or composed dishes, while the dramatic surface also allows it to function beautifully as a serving or display piece.

Stoneware with terra sigillata, cobalt carbonate, steel wool markings and impressions, sawdust, and liquid quartz. Saggar-fired, double fired.

広く浅い形はパスタやグレインボウル、サラダ、盛り付け料理に最適で、テーブルのアクセントとしても印象的な器です。
