Silene DeCiucies Wood-Fired Stoneware Kyuusu Teapot – Kaolin Slip

Handcrafted by Vermont potter Silene DeCiucies, this wood-fired stoneware kyuusu teapot is finished with a kaolin slip that allows the effects of flame and ash to emerge naturally during firing. Soft layers of grey, cream, and warm earth tones move across the surface, with subtle variations that make each piece distinct. The side-handled form offers balance and control when pouring, reflecting the quiet functionality of traditional kyuusu while remaining rooted in Silene’s own expressive approach to wood firing. Measuring approximately 3.5” high and 4” in diameter (excluding spout and handle), it is well suited for preparing tea in small, attentive servings. Food safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe.

バーモント州の陶芸家 Silene DeCiucies による薪窯焼成のストーンウェア急須。カオリンの化粧土を施した表面に、薪窯の炎と自然に降りかかる灰が作用し、柔らかな灰色やクリーム色、温かみのある土の表情が生まれています。一つ一つ微妙に異なる景色が現れ、薪窯ならではの深みを感じさせます。横手の持ち手は注ぎやすく、伝統的な急須の機能性と作家独自の造形感覚が静かに調和しています。本体部分は高さ約9cm、直径約10cm（注ぎ口・持ち手を除く）で、少量のお茶を丁寧に淹れるのに適したサイズです。食器用・電子レンジ対応・食洗機対応。
