Josh Kopin Wood Ash & Black Dolomite Espresso Cup

Wheel-thrown espresso cup by Josh Kopin, made from dark stoneware and fired in a gas kiln. A wood ash glaze forms the base surface, offering soft, atmospheric variation, while black dolomite glaze is brushed by hand, adding contrast and movement. The interaction between ash, brushwork, and flame gives each cup a nuanced, earthy character.

Compact and well balanced, this cup is designed for espresso or other small servings of coffee. Thrown and glazed individually, each piece carries subtle differences in glaze flow and brush marks that reflect the immediacy of the making process.

Josh Kopinによる轆轤成形のエスプレッソカップです。濃い色味の陶土を用い、ガス窯で焼成。木灰釉が柔らかな地の表情をつくり、その上に黒ドロマイト釉を刷毛で施すことで、静かな動きとコントラストが生まれています。釉薬の重なりや刷毛目には一点一点違いがあります。

手に収まりのよいコンパクトなサイズで、エスプレッソなど少量の飲み物に適しています。すべて手作業で成形・施釉されており、それぞれに個性があります。
