Silene DeCiucies Wood-Fired Small Serving Plate - Kaolin Slip, Kintsugi Repair

Handmade by Vermont potter Silene DeCiucies and wood-fired for nuanced surface variation, this stoneware small serving plate is finished with a kaolin slip that responds softly to flame and ash in the kiln. The piece arrived with a minor break during transit and has been repaired in-house using a contemporary kintsugi-inspired method with linseed resin and metallic mica. The golden join is intentionally visible, descending vertically from the lip and creating a quiet line of light that traces the plate’s history while honoring its original form.

Shallow and gently open, the plate is well suited for serving small bites, condiments, or tea sweets, and also works beautifully as a resting place for everyday objects. Measuring approximately 1.5” high and 4” in diameter, it remains fully functional while carrying its own mended story. Food safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe.

バーモント州の陶芸家 Silene DeCiucies による薪窯焼成のストーンウェア小皿。カオリンの化粧土を施した表面には、薪窯の炎と灰の作用によって柔らかな表情が生まれています。本作品は輸送中に小さな破損が生じたため、亜麻仁樹脂と金属雲母を用いた現代的な金継ぎ風の技法により、店内で修復されました。縁から縦に走る金色の継ぎ目はあえて見せる仕上げとなっており、器のかたちを尊重しながら、その歩んだ時間を静かに刻んでいます。

浅く開いた器形は、軽食や薬味、和菓子などの盛り付けに適しており、日常の小物置きとしても美しく使えます。サイズは高さ約4cm、直径約10cm。修復の痕跡も含め、この器ならではの物語を宿した一品です。食器用・電子レンジ対応・食洗機対応。
