Guy Matsuda Wood-Fired Chattermark Vase

This wheel-thrown vase by Guy Matsuda pairs a softly rounded form with delicate chattermarks carved into the lower half of the vessel. Left unglazed and wood-fired, the stoneware surface carries quiet variations of cream, pale ash tones, and warm blush flashing from the kiln atmosphere. The subtle vertical texture of the chattermarks contrasts gently with the smooth shoulder and neck, giving the piece a restrained but deeply tactile presence.

Beautiful with a few stems or as a quiet sculptural object on its own.

ジョシュ・マツダによる花器。丸みを帯びた静かなフォルムに、下部へ施された繊細なチャターマークがやわらかなリズムを与えています。無釉の石器肌には、薪窯焼成による淡い生成り色や灰色、緋色の景色が自然に現れています。滑らかな肩の部分と細かな削り跡との対比が美しく、控えめながら深い質感を感じさせる一点です。

草花を数本さりげなく生ける花器としても、そのままオブジェとしても美しい存在感があります。
